Albanien är ett av de allra fattigaste länderna i Europa. Kontrasterna mellan städer och landsbygd, mellan fattiga och rika, är stora. Många turister väljer att tillbringa tiden på de fina sandstränderna i söder, och missar därmed de intressanta historiska platserna, både forntida och de som bevarats efter kommunistdiktaturen. Gillar man lugn och ro erbjuder Albanien även storslagen och med europeiska mått orörd  natur.

Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe. The contrasts between cities and countryside, between poor and rich, are huge. Many tourists choose to spend their time on the fine sandy beaches in the south, and thus miss the interesting historical sites, both ancient and those preserved after the communist dictatorship. If you like peace and quiet, Albania also offers magnificent and, by European standards, untouched nature.
