Nemunasdeltats reginalpark i sydvästra Litauen är en av de få platserna i Europa där man fortfarande kan se stora träsklövskogar – livsmiljöer av europeisk betydelse – som ständigt översvämmas. Skogs- och våtmarkskomplexen är hem för sällsynta och skyddade fågelarter. Mer än 300 fågelarter har registrerats i Nemunasdeltat. Jag besökte området i slutet av juni, guidad av Boris Belchev från Alcedo Wildlife. Jag kan intyga att fågellivet är rikt både vad gäller arter och stora antal. Nemunas Delta Regional Park in southwest Lithuania is one of the few places in Lithuania and Europe where large swamp deciduous forests – habitats of European importance – can still be seen, which are constantly flooded. The forest and wetland complexes are home to many rare bird species protected in Lithuania and the European Union. More than 300 bird species have been recorded in the Nemunas Delta. I visited the area in late June, guided by Boris Belchev from Alcedo Wildlife. I can confirm the bird life is abundant both in terms of species and sheer numbers.
